This release includes new versions of KDE classics such as Dolphin, our feature-rich file manager and explorer; Kate, the developer-friendly text editor; and Itinerary, a travel assistant that will safely get you to your destination. …and much, much more!
Plasma 6.2 was released with many feature refinements and new modules to complete the desktop experience. This release adds three weeks’ worth of new translations and fixes from KDE’s contributors.
This update enhances performance, fixes bugs, and modernizes features for a more efficient and stable user experience.
The first release of OptiImage is finally out! OptiImage is a useful image compressor that supports PNG, JPEG, WebP and SVG file types. It doesn’t do the compression itself but uses various tools like
oxipng
to do the compression.

During the last quarter, we represented KDE at various events.
LAS 2024 was held in Monterrey, Mexico, marking the first time the event took place outside Europe. It provided a unique opportunity for the global free software community to collaborate and reflect on how to enhance the Linux application ecosystem.
This year, KDE again participated at 38c3, this time as part of the "Bits & Bäume / about: freedom" assembly, next to many similar minded organizations like the Free Software Foundation Europe (FSFE), European Digital Rights (EDRi), OpenStreetMap and more!
